PHILLIP BAILEY MONCREASE
is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, rapper, music director, writer, and producer based in Stockton, California. With over a decade of live performance experience, Phillip has captivated audiences around the world through a dynamic blend of jazz, R&B, soul, funk, and hip hop.

Raised in a musically rich environment, Phillip was influenced early on by the sounds of Motown, R&B, and jazz. He began playing alto saxophone as a child, and his introduction to jazz came through the works of Dave Brubeck. Soon after, he added drums to his repertoire—leading his high school drum line and performing throughout Northern California in a variety of ensembles.

In 2009, Phillip debuted as a rapper under the name “Moncrease,” releasing his first EP, Empty Pockets, in 2011. He went on to tour Northern California with the Virginia-based band Butcher Brown in 2012. A year later, he took his talents overseas as a touring musician with El-Live Productions, performing across Asia and the Middle East. Known for his genre-blending sound and emotionally charged performances, Phillip has earned a reputation as a sought-after international artist whose playing is praised for its power, sensitivity, and soul.

Phillip’s musical education has been enriched through firsthand learning experiences with legendary artists including Miguel Zenon, Robert Hurst, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Dave Brubeck, Freddie Hubbard, Marcus Strickland, Eric Harland, Robert Glasper, Taylor Eigsti, Bobby Watson, Bob McChesney, Jiggs Whigham, Bob Mintzer, Jeff Clayton, Christian McBride, and many others.
